Event Description
It’s time to break out of the box, build the future, and embolden each other to take brilliant, unapologetic action in science communication.
From 12–14 November, RMIT University will host the Australian Science Communicators (ASC) Annual Conference, and the Royal Society of Victoria with Inspiring Victoria are proud to be supporting and hosting parts of this vibrant national gathering.
The three-day program is packed with powerful conversations and practical inspiration. Highlights include an address from Australia’s Chief Scientist,Professor Tony Haymet, sessions exploring AI in science communication, the future of journalism, Indigenous and cross-cultural perspectives, and bridging research and government through embedded communicators.
Whether you’re a scientist, storyteller, educator, or community builder, ASC2025 is your chance to connect with peers, share what works (and what doesn’t), and help shape the future of science communication in Australia.

Day 1- Introduction to Science Communication at the Royal Society of Victoria
On Wednesday 12 November, Inspiring Victoria and the Royal Society of Victoria are proud to host and support the Introduction to Science Communication sessions - an energising day designed especially for people new to the field(and those keen to refresh their skills).
This day of discovery draws on the extraordinary talent gathered for the conference, with sessions led by some of Australia’s most experienced communicators and trainers. Participants will explore the principles of clear, engaging, and inclusive science communication — and leave ready to apply these skills in any context.
It’s a welcoming, energising start to the ASC experience, and a wonderful opportunity to connect with others passionate about sharing science.
Day 2 & 3 - Main Conference
From its humble beginnings in 1994 to its 30th anniversary this year, the Australian Science Communicators has become the heart of the nation’s science communication community.
The 2025 program celebrates that legacy, featuring:
- An address from Australia’s Chief Scientist, Professor Tony Haymet
 - Sessions exploring AI in science communication, Indigenous perspectives, and the future of science journalism
 - Conversations on embedding communicators in government, and reimagining National Science Week at 30 years.
 
It’s a dynamic, ideas-driven event that honours the past, celebrates the present, and builds the future of science communication in Australia.
