Join Soil Australia at the Royal Society of Victoria in Melbourne to celebrate its 70th birthday!

Hear 3 guest speakers deliver their views on 'Past, Present and Future of Soil Science in Victoria'. This will be followed by a socialising event with 2-course meal, plus welcome canapes, and drink at nearby Coopers Inn.

Dr Kirsten Barlow

Kirsten is a Principal Scientist at Precision Agriculture and leads the Research & Innovation (R&I) division providing research capacity andcapability for the company’s applied science and research projects. Kirsten is the primary source of technical guidance to customers, agronomypartners and sales teams. Kirsten has previously held roles with theDepartment of Natural Resources and Environment, and with Departmentof Primary Industries Victoria as a Research Scientist. Kirsten holds aBachelor of Agricultural Science and a PhD in Environmental engineering

Dr Kylie Hailles

Kylie is a CPSS-CSAM certified Environmental (Soil) Scientist specialisingin technical and advisory services in contaminated land assessment andmanagement with more than 20 years technical experience. Kylie spent 10years in an Operational Management role (CDM Smith) assisting inanalysing and maximising business performance, and in a Team Lead role(JBS&G) contributing to strategy, business planning and culture. Recently, Kylie has concentrated on sharing and extending her technical capabilitiesby leading and contributing to technical and design aspects ofcontaminated land management projects. In this capacity Kylie is enjoying the opportunity to bring together her technical expertise, operational nous,and leadership and team management skills.

Mark Imhof

Mark worked in soil and land resource assessment for 40 years inthe Victorian public service. Mark initiated and led the implementation ofthe Victorian Resources Online (VRO) which consists of over 8,000 webpages and is accessed by an average of 1600 users per day forinformation on Victorian soils and other natural resources. Mark hasextensive experience in the field and led the development of over 50technical reports and soil resource booklets. He has characterised over1500 soil pits and focused efforts on knowledge and information transfer to Victoria’s land managers through field events to online engagement overmany decades.Mark was the President of the Victorian Branch of Soil Science Australiafrom 2008-2012 and represented Victoria on the National Committee onSoil and Terrain (NCST) for over 25-years.
