Event Description

Members of the Royal Society of Victoria and Geography Victoria are invited to spend a relaxed and inspiring afternoon in two of Melbourne's most iconic heritage-listed buildings from the 1800s. Designed by the celebrated architect Joseph Reed, these remarkable sites played a pivotal role in introducing Australia to the world, showcasing the nation's industry innovation and spirit of exploration.

Thanks to the extensive restoration works, the Royal Exhibition Building Dome Tours have been available again since late 2022, following almost a century of closure. The guided tour offers a captivating glimpse into the building's rich history, topped off with breathtaking 360° views across Melbourne - a rare perspective not to be missed.

Members are welcome to:

  • Join the tour (meet at the Melbourne Museum foyer at 1:45 pm) and then walk to the RSV for afternoon tea ($25.00) or
  • Just come along to the RSV for a get-together/gathering/afternoon tea @ 3:00pm ($10.00)

The tour capacity is limited, so please register early.

The upper dome promenade is not wheelchair accessible and requires climbing approximately 20 steps.
