The month of May is our peak awards season at the Royal Society of Victoria, with all three major programs open for submissions at once, each recognising excellence at different moments of the science career cycle.

YSRP finalists 2018

First, applications are open for the Young Scientist Research Prizes, offering $6,000 in prizes across four categories of science to scholars in the final year of their doctoral studies at a Victorian research institution. Full eligibility criteria and application procedures are available from https://rsv.org.au/awards-and-prizes/young-scientist-research-prizes/ - applications close on 31 May, 2019.Second, applications are open for the Phillip Law Postdoctoral Award for the Physical Sciences, offering a prize of $3,000, open to suitably qualified post-doctoral candidates in the area of the Physical Sciences, which include Astronomy, Astrophysics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, all branches of Engineering, and related sciences within seven years of completing their doctoral

Professor David Karoly, 2015 recipient of the RSV Medal for Excellence in Scientific Research[/caption]Finally, nominations are sought for the RSV Medal for Excellence in Scientific Research, an award that recognises peak career achievements by research scholars based in Australia, now in its sixtieth year. This year is Category III: Earth Sciences; the last Medallist in this category was Professor David Karoly.
